I arrived in Barcelona without a booking, something I have since advised many people never to do. I spent considerable time dragging a case around and getting frustrated. The Tamashiro satisfied two key conditions. 1.) They had a room. and 2.) I could afford it. hence I took it and I guess that hte first condition above might often not be satisfied.
I have given it 4 for location on the grounds that it is near the Ramblas, the market and the Liceu Opera House. However there were often some rather intimidatory characters hanging around between Las Ramblas and the hotel. I don't like the idea of my sister having to walk it - unlikely as i was an only child!
I doubt I should take it again - not unless desperate - on the grounds of its height above the street.
I think it was no better or worse than a number of other places with 1 or 2 stars in Barcelona. The photos are of hte old hospital, now part of the University, which is opposite the pension.
